About the role

As the Strategy Operations manager you will have a central role in enabling Storytel’s future success. You will be responsible for leading complex cross-functional initiatives, optimizing the execution of the business strategy and working closely with senior leaders across the organization to instill a culture of operational excellence.

You will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations (who reports into the President of Streaming), however, work in close collaboration with the entire management team to support the development and execution of the company strategy. You’ll primarily focus on the Streaming division of the Storytel Group, which operates in a matrix organization with central functions as well as local teams based in our markets across the globe. You’ll orchestrate efforts throughout the organization and operate at strategic, tactical and operational level in order to ensure alignment between company objectives and day-to-day operations.

This is a newly defined role at Storytel and hence there is an expectation that you will shape it together with your main stakeholders to make it as impactful as possible.

Main responsibilities

  • Take ownership of and lead strategic initiatives from start to finish across a wide range of topics, working closely with stakeholders throughout the organization. This will typically be those projects that don’t cleanly fit within the organizational structure and/or fall between or go across the functional areas of responsibility.
  • Spearhead the strategy execution process in which the management team sets the strategic objectives, targets and key company-wide initiatives. In close collaboration with functional representatives, help ensure objectives are broken down to functional/team level and that progress is being monitored appropriately.
  • Help improve the company’s core processes, operating cadence and way of working by developing, sharing and implementing methodologies, templates and standards that will boost operational excellence.
  • Provide operational and analytical support to facilitate efficient decision-making and promote a data-driven culture.
  • Forge strong collaboration with selected roles in the organization (e.g. functional project managers, business developers, internal communications and the likes) to share learning’s and amplify the alignment across the business.

About You

  • Highly proactive and accountable, with an excellent ability to bring initiatives from inception to completion.
  • Resourceful and results-oriented, who’ll find new and create ways to solve the issue at hand. Highly flexible and adaptive to change.
  • Excellent social and communication skills who openly, respectfully and clearly gain understanding and buy-in from stakeholders.
  • Both strategically and operationally oriented; someone who easily connects the bigger picture with day-to-day operations.
  • Strong analytical mindset, who can process large amounts of information and/or data and apply a system thinking approach to simplify complexity.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in management consulting, strategy or operations roles, most preferably in fast-paced and international tech companies.
  • Proven experience and strong skills in project management as well as strategic planning and execution.
  • Strong analytical skills and well-versed in spreadsheets and slide decks, and ideally also business intelligence software.
  • Fluent in Swedish and English, in both speech and writing.
  • Experience in the broader field of operational excellence is a big plus; process management, business performance management, agile or lean methodologies etc.
