Senior Frontend Engineer – Tech.Collective

As a senior frontend engineer, you will be entrusted with crafting elegant and responsive user interfaces across several business-critical products.

As a master of your craft, you will write beautiful and fast JS/TS and for both React and Vue apps. Code that is well-tested and documented optimised for speed and easy to maintain.

You have honed those skills over the years by working on complex applications in cross-functional product teams, where you have shown yourself as a wonderful collaborator.

You have likely also done many code reviews and taken initiative to question decisions made by people more senior in the company than yourself. And challenged product decisions that didn’t make sense to you.

The opportunity

You will be building for thousands of smart people helping tens of thousands of companies with their tax-related needs.

Services such as producing correct and compliant tax filings, and consulting multinational companies on how to navigate the international tax landscape.

To do those jobs with the highest of degree of accuracy and efficiency, smooth processes and great software play key roles.

At the EY Tech.Collective, we help design those processes and build that software.

We operate across the Nordics (DK, FI, SE, NO) with a small, flat, and informal organisation of ~30 engineers, designers, researchers, and PMs. In a distributed setup across all countries where we work from home and offices depending on preferences and needs.

Tax? Yes, tax filings and tax law are the domains we design and build for, so having an interest in those areas would be good. Actual experience and domain knowledge is of course a plus, but certainly not a requirement. It’s a pretty small Venn diagram of senior engineers who also have professional tax experience.

Above all, we value working with good all-round people. People who are both highly specialised but are capable collaborating across disciplines.

Your key responsibilities

  • Solving complicated problems together with likeminded people.
  • Close collaboration with designers, product managers, and fellow engineers.
  • Spending time, occasionally, with users and user researchers to understand problems in detail.
  • Working across a range of products and problem spaces.
  • Freedom to work remotely or in our Copenhagen or Stockholm office.

Skills and attributes for success

We are looking for a good coder and a great colleague. These are the most important things that should characterise you.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Proficiency in modern JS frameworks such as React or Vue, and have worked on multiple mission-critical applications.
  • A positive attitude towards Typescript and various test frameworks.
  • Experience in working with service-based architectures.
  • Experience with continuous deployment pipelines.
  • Easy access to Copenhagen or Stockholm. You can work remotely most of the time, but we meet up in person weekly.
  • Really good English speaking and writing skills. That’s our work language.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Know a thing or two about tax calculations and/or tax law?
  • Azure as your second home, and you work well within the Microsoft universe.
  • Actual Langchain experience. Hobby projects are fine.
  • An eye for aesthetics and UI quality.
