The Financial Crime Prevention (FCP) function further accelerates SEB’s deployment of advanced Financial Crime prevention capabilities to continuously meet regulatory expectations and to become a market leader in fighting financial crime. Sanctions Governance and Oversight is a recently established unit within SEB’s Group Sanctions Office within FCP.
We create value by developing sanctions risk management capabilities that enable SEB Group to identify and mitigate sanctions risks efficiently and effectively, sustainably, and in the long term.
What you will be doing
You will join a diverse team of sanctions, and subject matter experts, accountable for driving and supporting various tasks ranging from designing and developing new sanctions risk management frameworks and processes, as well as enhancing and further developing existing ones. The FCP Sanctions Team supports sanctions risk management by designing, maintaining, and operating 1st Line of Defence risk management activities in close cooperation with our stakeholders across different business divisions and geographies.
As an FCP Sanctions Officer, you will be responsible for:
  • Maintaining, developing, and executing annual group wide sanctions risk assessment
  • Development of sanctions risk scoring methodologies and models
  • Maintaining and developing sanctions governance and operating models and frameworks
  • Development and maintenance of Sanctions MI including KRI’s & KPI’s
  • Development of sanctions issues and incident management frameworks and processes
  • Supporting in the development and maintenance of sanctions internal rules and requirements
  • Working closely with a wide-range of SEB stakeholders globally on sanctions-related projects
  • Assess and benchmark future state technologies to ensure the development of a best-in-class Sanctions capabilities
  • Driving forward and supporting on initiatives linked to SEB’s FCP programme
  • Perform other tasks and duties as set out by the immediate manager.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for highly motivated, skilled, and adaptable candidates to join our team focused on sanctions transformation projects and developing and implementing sanctions governance and oversight frameworks. We value diverse perspectives and experiences and encourage candidates who may not meet every criterion but possess a strong foundation and at least 5 years working with sanctions risk management with a willingness to adapt and work flexibly across different types of initiatives.
  • Previous Sanctions experience is essential
  • Strong knowledge of EU, UN, OFAC and UK sanctions regimes and their implementation
  • Higher education (bachelor’s degree or higher)
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Technical level understanding of sanctions screening technologies is advantageous
  • Deliberate and analytic mindset with the ability to process large amounts of information
  • Articulate with strong communication skills who can converse and deliberate at all levels within the organization
  • Knowledge of the financial sector and products is preferable
  • Proactive approach to identify opportunities to enhance and develop existing processes
  • Proven experience in large and complex cross-business projects ranging from process automation to improvement initiatives
  • Broad knowledge of programme and delivery management at a senior level inside a bank
  • Highly organized and able to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to review project results and apply a structured problem-solving approach when encountering gaps, obstacles, and risks
  • Project management qualifications and Agile experience are beneficial
