Product Owner (Business Platform in Digital Services)

DeLaval is now looking for a Product Owner to join our Business Platform department in the Digital Services unit of DeLaval.

The Digital Services Unit leads DeLaval’s transition to offer more digital services to
bring unique value to dairy farmers, dealers, partners and its own organisation. These new
services will support customers in making better use of their equipment as well as farm and cow data, to run more sustainable and profitable dairy operations. They will support dealers and DeLaval to improve customer support and internal efficiency.

The Business Platform department is in charge of building the foundation for all DeLaval digital services. It covers:
  • core functionality and business infrastructure [RO1] as page navigation, views and landing pages in DeLaval Plus (our web-based interface for farm and support users),
  • farm registry, user & farm onboarding/offboarding,
  • buy and pay process, integration with external systems,
  • user identity, authorization and access management
to name a few of the larger areas.

Purpose of role and key responsibilities
As a Product Owner in the Business Platform department, you will work with two agile development teams.

You will be the primary stakeholder for the teams, the go-to person for the development team and all external stakeholders in regards of the services/applications delivered from the team.

You will drive the overall product development, user documentation, team backlog and priority. Balance new development with improvements, issues and maintenance work, all with
support from the development team and Tech Lead.

You will work with a value driven approach in the development team. Results is more important over being busy. Focusing on the outcome and measuring the success based on getting closer to solving a problem.

For support with strategy & business direction and business relations, you will have a close relationship with the Product Manager for the Business Platform. You will also work closely with the department UX to make sure that the solution we provide gives the users the best possible user experience, helping our customers to perform at the highest levels in their daily work. As well as working closely with the department Architect, to ensure technology meets business needs and our strategy direction.

Following are the main tasks and responsibilities that the role is expected to perform.

Specific tasks
  • Core areas type of work
    • Decide priority, drive application ideas/problems, Team Backlog, App capabilities, App Documentation, App KPIs, Releases,
  • Working close with stakeholders: Product Manager, Business Process Owners, Subject Matter Experts, UX, Architects etc,
  • Work close with Product Manager/s to figure out what problems we should solve for our customers and using this to capture value for the business,
  • Represents and drives service/applications demos outside team,
  • Visualizing the team backlog (Increment based) and visualizing the Roadmap with the Product Manager,
  • Write & prepare Feature/Problem Requirements, supported by the Product Manager,
  • Feature including requirements as Business Metrics & User Stories,
  • Write and prepare User Stories (linked with planned Feature/Problem),
  • Make sure that non-functional and other requirements is also created and planned. Supported by Tech Lead and team,
  • Key stakeholder in the team sprint planning, refinement, sprint review & retrospectives,
  • Release Planning. Including coordinating with Product, Support & Commercial team,
  • Share successful releases, but also production problems together with the development team,
  • Drive the Feature breakdown workshops with key stakeholders in the discovery phase with focus on UX, Architecture & Functional and non-functional requirements,
  • Actively monitors and reports on objective fulfilment metrics (KPIs).
Qualifications and experience
To be successful in this role we see that you have:
  • University degree in business administration or IT (Master/Bach of Science),
  • 3+ years as Product Owner or similar experience,
  • 7+ years in Software Development,
  • Understands software development and life cycle management,
  • Handling feature breakdown workshops, understanding architecture,
  • Business and technology understanding,
  • Understanding technology, patterns, frameworks (our tech stack),
  • Good strategic capacity and ability to communicate with both, business/strategic stakeholders and technical development team,
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to interact with diverse people across different functions/cultures strategic & logical thinking with great analytical skills,
  • Fluency in written and spoken English,
  • Integrates and works well in a global team and multicultural environment.
