About Protas

Protas is an independent not-for-profit organisation, designing and delivering large, global randomized clinical trials of treatments for common and other life-threatening diseases. Protas is led by the epidemiologist and physician, Professor Sir Martin Landray, who has over 20 years’ experience of leading large, randomized clinical trials as part of a team at Oxford University’s Nuffield Department of Population Health. Most recently, he has been co-leading the landmark RECOVERY clinical trial into treatments for COVID-19 which identified that treatment with the inexpensive steroid drug dexamethasone, improved the chances of survival for the most severe cases. About the role

As the Procurement Lead at Protas you will take the lead in growing and developing a broad procurement capability covering all areas of the organisation. Although heavily focused on our Clinical Operations function, in this diverse and autonomous role you will develop an organisational plan to drive improvements in the quality and cost effectiveness of Protas’ procurement processes whilst also managing the end-to-end procurement process and set up of Master Framework/Preferred Supplier Lists. You will use your expertise to build a confident and capable contingent of business area heads who can effectively procure and manage services in line with policy and best practice.

About you

You have gained detailed knowledge and experience of running £multi-million procurement programmes in your career to date, with experience in establishing and managing contracts in one or more IT categories and/or technical services/equipment. With a proven track record of establishing procurement best practice, you’ll be self-motivated, tenacious with a strong desire to make improvements and the ability to foster strong supplier relationships in complex vendor landscapes. You pride yourself on being a collaborative team player with a high level of positivity, integrity and professionalism. You should be comfortable working independently and be able to flex and adapt between strategic level and hands on tasks. Although not essential, an understanding of UK Public Procurement Regulations would be advantageous.

Salary: circa £68,500 per annum
