About the role

Localization at Storytel is not just about translation, but about adapting Storytel’s app, web, marketing assets and communication to provide customers with an experience that feels local and relevant. To move our localization execution to the next level we’re seeking a talented and organized Localization Lead to take charge of our translation processes. This is a brand-new role in our organization, so you’ll have the chance to grow with it and shape it as you go. In this role, you’ll be the backbone of our translation efforts and primarily manage the translation workflow and associated tools to ensure efficient processes and high-quality deliverables. The role sets high expectations on stakeholder management, as you will engage with cross-functional teams across Storytel to support them in localizing our products, services and communication. You are experienced in translation/localization, possess great organizational skills, and a technical savviness that enables you to really dive deep into processes and tools to ensure they are optimized in our favor.

About the team

The role is placed in Operations but your stakeholders are from many different areas in the organization, such as Marketing, Customer Support, CRM, Product & Tech. You will report to the Head of Customer Support, and you will be part of the global Customer Support team which works with customers on all Storytel markets across the globe. For us, it is important to communicate in an engaging, caring, and credible manner to build long-term trust with our customers. As Lead of the translation process, you will be a big part of the success of the company when it comes to communicating in the right way.

The global Customer Support Team consists of support managers who lead groups of dedicated support representatives, Process & Project Manager as well as Automation Lead and System Lead. Our team members collaborate closely with each other and other parts of the organization, with short decision-making processes and a “can-do attitude”.

The role includes

  • Ownership of the end-to-end localization process and oversee all translation activities to ensure timely delivery

  • Create and maintain process standards and glossaries, and ensure tone of voice guidelines are followed

  • Coordinate with internal teams, and internal as well as external translators, to manage the translation workflow and work closely with product managers, marketing teams, and other stakeholders to understand translation requirements and priorities.

  • Implement and manage quality assurance processes to ensure translated content meets high standards and is delivered on time.

  • Be a Super-user of our translation tools and manage good relationships with translation service providers, ensuring high-quality service delivery.

  • Ensure the effective integration of translation tools with existing systems and processes.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest translation tools and technologies, recommending and implementing solutions to improve workflow.


About you

  • Proven experience in a similar role (in translation, localization, or related fields)

  • Proven track record of managing projects, processes and tools as well as being technically oriented is a must. If it also has been done within the field of localization/translations it’s a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a natural talent for collaborating with others.

  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English is a must. Knowledge in multiple languages is a plus.

  • Organized and accountable, setting ambitious goals and achieving them with high-quality results

  • Self-motivated, autonomous and proactive with a results-oriented approach and a positive can-do attitude.
