Legal Counsel (m/f/d)

Riverty has a Europe-wide legal function with around 30 employees, and nine of them are based in Varberg, Sweden. The position is for a Legal Counsel role and you will be part of an international team of lawyers working from Sweden, Finland, Norway and the Netherlands, reporting to the General Counsel of Riverty’s European business unit 3rd Party Debt Collection & Dept Purchase (“3DC&DP”). In this role, you will have a broad in-house lawyer role. As Legal Counsel you will cooperate closely with lawyers throughout the entire group of companies. Jointly run initiatives are encouraged. The daily work will also entail close contacts with other functions such as Product, Sales, Marketing, Risk, Compliance, Finance and Operations.
Your main responsibilities:
- You provide support and advice on a wide range of corporate and commercial law matters related to the business e.g. consumer credit, consumer law and licensing matters – both on a national and cross-border level.
- You are assessing new business models/solutions, assessing end-user solutions and interfaces.
- You draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements and set-ups (and other legal documents).
- You contribute to constant improvement of the legal function as a whole, and its ways of working, to ensure a highly effective legal function that provides due value to all stakeholders and where the co-workers thrive.
- You develop checklists, policies, processes, conduct trainings etc. to contribute to due legal awareness and operational efficiency.
Who you are:
- You have five to eight years of solid and relevant work experience within industries similar to ours and you are knowledgeable within financial services and there to related matters in international environments.
- In terms of areas of law, we believe you are quite experienced in the following areas: debt collection law and regulatory matters in debt collection, consumer credit, consumer law, commercial contract law, insolvency law, credit law, property law, finance law and financial regulatory matters.
- Experience from an in-house legal department or a commercial law firm would be meritorious.
- You are able to translate complicated legal matters into commercially relevant and easy to understand advice, able to prioritize given the ever-varying needs of the stakeholders, comfortable with change and uncertainty, service minded and you act with a high degree of integrity.
- You have a Swedish law degree and you need to be good at communicating, both orally and in writing, in both Swedish and English, which is our corporate language.
