We started as a student project nearly twenty years ago and have evolved from an in person course provider to a professional online business supporting ambitious international students and schools. We are growing, profitable, our students love us, and we are ready to take the next step in our growth trajectory.

Over the next couple of years, we are going to scale over 3x through a revamped learning experience, an expanded product offering, and launches into new market segments. To do this and more, we need an ambitious and fast-moving Finance Manager to enable our growth.

About the position

We’re looking for a proactive individual with a knack for strategic planning, streamlining processes, analyzing metrics, and managing financial operations.

You will be managing all aspects of Lanterna finance and liaising with external accounting partners with support from our group finance team that manages finance for Lanterna and its larger sister company Kognity.

For this role, you will be reporting directly to Lanterna’s CEO with a dotted line to the group Head of Finance.

What you’ll do…

• Financial Management: Oversee tutor and teacher payroll processes, handle revenue recognition (online tutoring, schools, courses), and manage non-tutoring payments
• Operational Efficiency projects: Streamline revenue recognition, order-to-cash processes, and payment solutions. Implement new systems and enhance system integrations across platforms
• Operational Reporting & Analysis: Monitor actuals vs. forecast, update business/board reports, and conduct ad hoc financial analyses
• Compliance & Registration: Own and implement enhanced framework for GDPR compliance, Terms of service and Terms of use. Ensure compliance with HMRC guidelines for PAYE tutors (UK) and manage vendor registrations in Netsuite (Sweden and UK)
• Payment Systems: Chase failed payments and negotiate improved payment solutions
• Strategic Planning: Update and improve budgets, forecasts, sales models, and pricing on a quarterly basis or as needed
• Audit & Liaison: Prepare for audits and liaise with group finance and external accounting partners

We’re excited if you have…

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• Experience in financial operations and preferably ERP systems
• Experience as a management consultant or auditor at a Big-6 firm
• Strong analytical and communication skills
