At Flower, we operate our Digital Power Refinery Platform also known as a virtual power plant (VPP). To our digital platform, we connect to and control a vast pool of generation, consumption, and storage assets from large-scale industrial facilities to decentralized energy resources which we optimize to produce the most benefit for the electricity system both locally, regionally, and system-wide. We are currently expanding the team and entering an exciting phase of launching our solutions in new European markets. ‍ About the role

We in the Power Refinery team are now looking for our next colleague to join Flower as a Backend Developer. You would be joining our highly driven, dedicated, and competent tech team. We develop most of our solutions in Python and orchestrate them in Amazon Web Services (AWS). At Brokerage, we build our solutions as web services in particular in the form of APIs to communicate with external stakeholders.

You will contribute to the architecture and development of an important stage in our solutions. In particular, the Brokerage squad is dedicated to ensuring that the results of our operations reach their destination and that we receive and store the responses of our partners. The central role of this position is to help the Brokerage squad with technical implementations such as the development and operation of the Brokerage platform. Thanks to your contribution, our flexible solutions will get to the relevant market actors and contribute to the green energy transition of the electricity system.

In your daily work, you will work closely with your colleagues with related skills (backend, full-stack, data engineers, data scientists). As we are a fast-growing startup, your tasks will vary over time and you will also collaborate with people in other teams to figure out the best solutions. In particular, you will mainly report to the Head of the Brokerage squad. As a Backend Developer, you will be expected to:

• Contribute to the development and improvement of our data pipelines.
• Develop, maintain, test, and design web services in the form of APIs to send and receive responses to the relevant marketplace.
• Deploy and build infrastructure in AWS.

‍Skills and requirements.

Some must-haves for the role:

• Degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering or similar.
• 1-4 years experience as a backend developer delivering production code or a similar role.
• Experience in writing code in Python.
• CI/CD experience, especially GitHub actions.
• Fluency in English.

Some nice-to-haves (for us to be a good match, we think you check two or more of these):

• Additional experience with other programming languages (Go, Java, C++, C#, etc.)
• Cloud services (preferably AWS but also GoogleCloud etc.).
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC).
• HTTP API/ web service experience.
• Knowledge of databases and SQL.
• Front-end development to build a platform to visualize operations and detect potential problems.

We believe you have great communication skills and thrive in an agile environment where your own ideas and initiatives are encouraged.

Location

We love to see each other in the office but understand that sometimes you work better from somewhere else. We would like you to be able to work from the office most of the time but we are flexible with remote work occasionally. Our office is located at Söder Mälarstrand 21, a few minutes’ walk from Gamla Stan subway station in Stockholm.
