This position is based on our site in Uppsala, where Thermo Fisher develops, manufactures, and markets complete blood test systems to support the clinical diagnosis and monitoring of allergy, asthma, and autoimmune diseases. With 1,900 employees worldwide working with these products, and 1,000 in Sweden, we are the global leader in in-vitro allergy testing and the European leader in autoimmunity diagnostics.

What will you do

Within our development projects we perform a substantial number of studies during development, verification, and validation phase to secure the performance of our system. To aid, streamline and automize this process as far as possible we are currently building a software system for internal data management, statistical analysis and report handling. For this purpose, we are now hiring a Software System Engineer that will have the overall system and technical responsibility for the development of the system and in the long own the maintenance of the end product.

As a Software System Engineer in the project, you will play a critical role in designing and customizing the architecture of the system. To make the system successful we need to assure that we capture the need from the end user and transfer that to an easy-to-use system. This means that you will need to understand the architecture of the system and how it is developed at the same time as you need to understand the need from the end user. This requires involvement with the developing team, IT, R&D, our biometrics and regulatory team.

You will be responsible managing and maintaining the computer systems and providing guidance and support throughout development and the continued product lifecycle. Working with the development team configuring the system. Working with trouble shooting and issue resolution together with IT and the development team. Responsible for System Documentation and eventually be involved in the training of the users.

How will you get there?

  • You have a Bachelor’s/Master degree in Software Engineering (or equivalent)

  • Experience from developing or configuring software systems. Having worked with LIMS system could be a merit.

  • As a person, you should be someone who takes initiatives and works in a structured way within the project team.

  • Strong self-leadership, including team lead and presentation skills.

  • Ability to collaborate with people with various competencies.

  • Ability of working independently, taking ownership for the management of processes, projects, and timelines.

  • Clear communicator, both verbally and written English

  • Skilled to work across departments, in a matrix organization

  • Most of all you should enjoy working in a team that wants to have fun at work helping each other creating great products.
