This will be us – your new colleagues within the Business Areas/Group Functions Chapter, in Sweden which is part of the Architecture Function

Architecture is a new function within Group IT with the ambition to transform towards the North Star Target IT Architecture which is the foundation for the Digital Industrial Footprint of the Volvo Group. Together with our digital talents, we will deliver the platforms on which future services and solutions will be built. We will outline a North Star IT Architecture that embraces our legacy and enable value creation for the Group.
The function works closely together and with other parts of the organization, both in Volvo Group Digital & IT, with TD/BAs and Group Functions. We foster an environment where ideas, thoughts and opinions can be shared. We are team players with clear common goals, based on each individual’s contribution.

We are now looking for a Senior Solution Architect to strengthen our team, bringing expertise and skills, supporting our journey.

Your main activities and responsibilities

As Solution Architect, you will lead and coordinate architectural work across the different teams and deliveries. You will define and develop the strategic and tactical direction of our architecture. As part of a global organization, you will actively cooperate with various stakeholders with ease in a multi-cultural environment.

You will be involved in designing and maintaining the architecture views, models, and target architecture for the solutions and drive the work to identify and reduce the technical debt. You will align architecture with IT Security Directives and fulfil demand for information security. You will also contribute to the implementation of our solution components.

You will stay up-to date in architectural trends & relevant industry models and be a mentor for developers in the team.

Being involved in the ongoing and new initiatives for the Volvo Construction Equipment applications. A Solution Architect in this position will work with platform architecture (ServiceNow), as well with all new demand coming in. The demand might be related to the physical products, or services. One prioritized area of this product is the Digital Service Journey, which is a strategic area for Volvo CE. To be able to leverage on existing platforms, processes, and understand the customer (end customer, dealer, internal users) we need Solution Architect to create the architect vision. We need to drive this from the support area, as this product is connected to many other products and platforms (VCE Volvo Connect, DCSP (“Service Factory”), UCHP (warranty), master data solutions etc.

Required competencies

• Ensure compliance with Volvo’s frameworks and standards
• Develop documentation of system components in accordance with obligatory standards
• Present solutions to stakeholders
• Support IT team in technical realization, testing and application’s deployment.
• Work actively with the as-is and to-be application architecture
• Support and be part of the Agile way of working
• Take an active part in Integration design
• Lead reviews of architecture concepts and solutions
• Identify technical, security risks and propose mitigation actions
• Review the functional and non-functional, including information security, requirements from the stakeholders and document such requirements.

Background

• Preferably one of the following, or equivalent:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities
• A Master of Science in Engineering or Master in Administration or equivalent
• Good knowledge of all aspects of the software engineering process
• At least 5 years’ experience in creating/maintaining systems architecture
• Experience in the Diagnostics area is an advantage
• Experience of the Volvo Construction Equipment environment is an advantage
