About the Role
We are seeking an experienced privacy legal counsel to join the SEB Group Privacy Office in Stockholm, Sweden to support a broad range of privacy and data protection legal and operational matters. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and evolving field and contribute to maintaining our organization’s commitment to privacy and data protection. As a privacy legal counsel, you will be an essential member of our growing team and will work closely with business stakeholders throughout the Group to support a wide range of privacy and data protection-related matters. You will use your strong interpersonal skills and your ability to combine legal knowledge with business acumen to advise our teams and create pragmatic actionable solutions to complex legal issues.
Your core responsibilities:
- Offer legal support and guidance on data protection and privacy issues,
- Support in strategic initiatives involving and/or relating to data protection and privacy issues,
- Provide tailored advice to internal stakeholders on data protection and privacy legal and contractual risks and risk mitigation,
- Assist with designing, building, and improving internal data protection and privacy operations, processes and tools,
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and manage data protection and privacy risks effectively,
- Collaborate with and manage external counsel as necessary
- Conduct data protection and privacy workshops and training for employees
- Collaborate and align with other legal functions within the SEB Group.
Who are you?
- You have a Swedish LL.M. degree or equivalent European qualification
- at least five years of experience working as in-house legal counsel or at a law firm with substantial experience of working with data protection and privacy.
- Your prior professional experience demonstrates that you have comprehensive knowledge of the GDPR and related legislation.
- You have excellent communication skills in both Swedish and English, verbally and in writing.
- You have a strong commercial understanding and exhibit a proactive approach to your responsibilities.
- You have a high level of integrity and are confident in your competence and the value you bring and at the same time possess a curiosity to learn and take on new challenges in this dynamic role.
- You can work both independently, with identifying and pursuing initiatives, and as part of a team.
- You can analyze complex information and communicate the same in a simplified way with clear advice to support enhanced decision-making.
- You are a positive and engaged team player who is not afraid to deliver and dig in where necessary.
- Operational knowledge of IT security and Cyber Security is a merit, as is prior experience in working with the e-Privacy Directive.
