Board & Association Intern – Läkare Utan Gränser/ MSF Sweden

Läkare Utan Gränser (MSF Sweden) is looking for a Board & Association Intern for a 3-month period (for the period mid-March– mid-June 2024) with possibilities for extension, willing to dedicate a minimum of 20 hours/week (unpaid). The internship is based in the Stockholm office with a flexibility to work remotely.

WHO ARE WE?
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural disasters. MSF offers assistance to people based only on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. Through MSF associations, members, who are all present or former MSF employees or volunteers, have the right and responsibility to voice their opinions and contribute to the definition and guidance of MSF’s social mission. The associations bring together individuals in formal and informal debates and activities – in the projects, in associative gatherings at national and regional levels and in an annual international assembly.

POSITION BACKGROUND AND DESCRIPTION
The association of Läkare Utan Gränser has approximately 400 members and is comprised of current and former International Mobile staff, as well as office staff and office volunteers. MSF Sweden is governed by the Board of Directors.

As a Board and Association intern, your main task will be to actively support the logistic and administrative aspects of the preparation and implementation of our major event; the Association General Assembly, taking place in May 2024 in Oslo. The Intern will be working closely with the Association Coordinator to plan the association members’ attendance to this two full-days event and should therefore be able to multi-task, take initiatives and demonstrate logistical and organizational skills. The Board & Association Intern will also assist in the preparation of the monthly Board meetings as well as managing the internal member website and membership database administration, updating information, running reports, updating newsletter, and cross-checking data. Proficiency in Excel with formulas is a needed qualification.

All communication with the Board and Association is in English, and you must be fluent in both spoken and written English. The working language in the office is both Swedish and English, however, Swedish is not a requirement.

MAIN TASKS

The successful candidate will primarily support the Association Coordinator and the Board and Executive Support by:

  • Administrative help before, during and after the General Assembly May 2024.
  • Assist in managing and updating the internal member website and other databases.
  • Contribute to build the monthly Asso newsletter.
  • Update internal members Website.
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly Board meetings.
  • Perform other tasks supporting the Association Coordinator and the Board and Executive Support as the need arises.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Interest in and commitment to MSF’s humanitarian principles and associative structure
  • Demonstrates excellent writing skills in English, attention to details and proofreading ability.
  • Above average computer literacy (Excel)
  • Excellent administrative/logistical skills
  • Strong organizational skills, multi-tasking ability and flexibility with changing priorities
  • Able to work independently and with limited supervision on multiple tasks and willing to be flexible with hours and days of work
  • Ideal candidate is studying (Bachelor or Master preferred)
  • You have the possibility to work for a 3-month period (for the period mid-March– mid-June 2024) with possibilities for extension, willing to dedicate a minimum of 20 hours/week. This internship is unpaid.
