We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to support the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in the design, integration and maintenance of scalable data-processing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scripts using Python or R.
- Process large and complex datasets.
- Work with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Develop and maintain ETL and ELT workflows.
- Support data integration across systems and platforms.
- Improve the reliability and scalability of data pipelines.
Mandatory requirements
- University degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering or another related field, with at least 3 years of experience in data engineering or a closely related role; or
- Non-university degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- At least 3 years of experience during the past five years in:
- Scripting languages such as R or Python.
- Handling large and complex datasets using SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Using SQL for large and complex dataset processing.
- ETL/ELT tools and data-integration frameworks.
- English level B2 or higher.
Practical details
- Remote work from within the EU/EEA.
- Occasional on-site presence at ECDC in Solna, Sweden, may be required.
- Freelance and employment-contract options are available.
