We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to support the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in the design, integration and maintenance of scalable data-processing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scripts using Python or R.
• Process large and complex datasets.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Develop and maintain ETL and ELT workflows.
• Support data integration across systems and platforms.
• Improve the reliability and scalability of data pipelines.

Mandatory requirements

• University degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering or another related field, with at least 3 years of experience in data engineering or a closely related role; or
• Non-university degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• At least 3 years of experience during the past five years in:
  
  • Scripting languages such as R or Python.
  • Handling large and complex datasets using SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Using SQL for large and complex dataset processing.
  • ETL/ELT tools and data-integration frameworks.
• English level B2 or higher.

Practical details

• Remote work from within the EU/EEA.
• Occasional on-site presence at ECDC in Solna, Sweden, may be required.
• Freelance and employment-contract options are available.
